I recently separated from the father of my children. Never married and are now trying to develop management options. He wants to reach an agreement within six months. Our son is two and a half. I do not want to accept because the agreement for a healthy child so young. In the tired arguments and you just want to something is to accept the fair. When it comes to this 6mos his pen and a ** decides to be realistic and sit beside me and our children to take custody arrangements. My question is .. Is it legal in California, a separate agreement and have it notarized form, rather than get the lawyers and the courts?

It is perfectly legal for you to an agreement on their own terms both live to achieve. In fact, it is useful to maturity.
However, I would not mind a written contract and a notary. Even then it is obligatory to the extent that you both agree. Once the file is a motion in family court with the agreement nothing. If any of you violate the agreement, the only way to file a motion in Family Court.
BTW, you do not need a lawyer before the Family Court. Rather than enter the family or the community care office and file a paternity test challenge. Employees with you when you speak. The judge determines the support, custody and visitation.
